Thank you for welcoming me as the new State Director of The Arc Georgia.
I come to you from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I was a dedicated parent advocate, a member of the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities, a member of the Department of Public Instruction Special Education Council, a member of Independence First’s Long-Term Care Committee, and a Special Education Liaison Volunteer with Milwaukee Public Schools. It is my honor to work alongside other dedicated members of the community and bring my passion to serve in the disability movement to the great state of Georgia.
I would like to build upon the mission of The Arc of the United States through the scope of Georgia. “We uphold our vision that every individual and family living with intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) in the United States has access to the information, advocacy, and skills they need to support full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.”
I also seek to continue engaging with The Arc Georgia’s existing relationships, while building new valuable relationships and bridges across the state.
Some of my top ideas for The Arc Georgia include evolving advocacy and mentoring programs, engaging youth and families in our movement, and overall growth of community inclusion. These are areas that I believe will help build a bright future for The Arc Georgia.
